An Alton woman is heading to prison after she pleaded guilty to operating a heroin ring out of South Roxana. 25 year old Chelsea Schollmeier was sentenced in Madison County Court to 10 years in prison after police uncovered the operation about a year ago.
Schollmeier pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance within one thousand feet of public housing. Schollmeier was arrested with co-defendant 22 year old Kenneth Rice after they were accused of selling heroin out of an apartment they shared in South Roxana. Authorities say Schollmeier would make up to $1,000 per week selling heroin buttons for $5 each...sometimes up to 200 per week. Prosecutors said she would use those addicted to heroin to sell the drug. Four others who worked for the couple were charged and sentenced to various prison terms. The case against Rice is pending and he remains held in the Madison County Jail.
