An Alton woman will spend nearly four years behind bars after allegedly filing fraudulent tax returns for to undercover agents earlier this year. 33-year old Aisha Wright was sentenced Friday to 46-months in prison followed by three-years of supervised release as a result of her convictions for making two false claims against the United States according to U.S. State’s Attorney Steven Wigginton.
Wright operated A.W. Mobile Taxes in Alton where she allegedly prepared fraudulent federal income tax returns for two agents. Further investigation revealed that she systematically filed 492 fraudulent returns causing a total loss of more than $1-million to the United States. In addition to her prison term and supervised release, Wright will have to pay restitution totaling more than $1,052,300 and serve 450 hours of community service as a condition of her supervised release.
