The Alton City Council will vote on a tax levy soon, but the actuary numbers from state are not in yet, so the process is currently on hold. The Committee of the Whole laid over the resolution last night that would have started the process of establishing the levy, but as Alton Comptroller Stephanie Elliott explains, there are a lot of variables she does not have the numbers on yet.
She says the options to consider the actuary on the police and fire pensions are likely to change as well. In other committee business, several resolutions were considered to abate various general obligation bonds. Homes at 1010 Humboldt and 1116 Harrison are slated for demolition, and asbestos removal will be happening at numerous structures owned by the city. The full council meets tomorrow night at 7:30.
