Three members of an Alton family are now recipients of the Congressional Award, following a Tuesday morning ceremony at Alton City Hall. Congressman Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) presented the awards to Clayton, DeAnna and Steven Pope.
The Congressional Award honors young Americans for setting goals in four program areas; Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition/Exploration. 16-year-old Clayton Pope – a student at St. Louis Country Day - received the silver medal for at least 400 hours in pursuit of meeting his goals.
