The Alton School Board has begun accepting bids for the upcoming renovations to West Elementary School that will take place over the summer and during next school year. While they are preparing for future projects, District Plant Facilities and Maintenance Administrator Dave McClintock says that doesn’t mean that work at East Elementary is finished yet.
McClintock also says that the project at East is running on schedule and that work should wrap up by early to mid-summer.
So far the board has approved a bid from Envirotech Incorporated worth $556-thousand, which will cover the first phase of abatement at West, the board will accept bids for phases 2-5 of that project during the March board meeting. Once the renovations to West are finished, North Elementary will get an overhaul.
Mark Twain and Horace Mann schools will be used the next two school years while the remodeling work at West and North is takes place.
