The Alton School District has begun moving classrooms around as it heads toward the new "paired schools" plan in the fall. It's a plan that has dozens of teachers heading to new classrooms. The district's Director of Finance Chris Norman tells The Big Z hiring professional movers rather than give the job to the summer maintenance crews.

Under the plan the schools will be paired as follows: Lewis and Clark with North, Gilson Brown with West, and Lovejoy and Eunice Smith with East. The district expects a minimum cost savings of $560,000 annually under the new alignment.
