Many Riverbend communities are pursuing bike and pedestrian path projects. Alton can be added to that list, as it is entering into a professional services contract with Heartlands Conservancy to prepare a Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan for the city.
The contract is not to exceed the amount of $19,915. Alton Director of Development and Housing Greg Caffey tells The Big Z $15,000 of that would be paid through a Madison County Grant.

He says the trail master plan would chart out trails to improve connectivity for pedestrian and bicycle traffic between recreation areas, activity centers and the planned Multi Modal Transportation Center. The full city council will consider this and other issues tonight at 7:30.
