The 2012 budget for the city of Alton was passed last night, but the focus of the City Council meeting was the dropping of the Wadlow Golf Course from the list of properties maintained by the Park & Recreation Department. The course closed for good a couple of months ago in anticipation of getting new life as a multi-purpose development that includes a Multi-Modal Transportation facility.

For the land to even be considered, this is a move that had to be made due to IDOT regulations, according to Alton's Director of Development and Housing, Phil Roggio.

Roggio comments

There was some concern over the process by Alderman Mike Velloff, but he was assured that the project has been completely transparent, and adequate notice has been given to city residents.
