Parking has been at a premium in many places since Sunday’s snowfall, so Alton’s Public Works Director has decided moving it to another spot may be the best solution as temperatures rise this weekend. Bob Barnhart says a couple of trucks are broke down right now, so he has pressed backhoes into service, and they are loading snow from 3rd Street and Broadway into dump trucks to be hauled away.

The snow is being dumped by the Alton Marina. He says there is not a lot of traffic down there at this time of year, and says it can melt there and drain into the river, rather than going into the city’s sewer system.
