An Alton man has been sentenced to 12 and a half years in federal prison for distribution of cocaine. That sentence was handed down against 30-year old Demarcus O. Johnson on Friday according to United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois Stephen R. Wigginton.  Johnson previously pleaded guilty to selling cocaine to a police informant in Alton in September 2013 but was given the extended sentence based on his existing record with authorities which included previous felony convictions for drug trafficking and aggravated fleeing from police.
