An Alton man will spend more than 8 years in federal prison for dealing crack cocaine to an undercover police informant in Alton. That sentence was handed down against 28-year old Steven Foster on Tuesday after he pled guilty to two counts of selling crack cocaine last July. According to United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton, Foster sold a gram of crack cocaine to an undercover police informant in Alton twice in January 2014.
He was categorized as a “career offender” due to two previous convictions for selling cocaine and has been in police custody since his arrest in January 2014. The case was investigated by the Alton Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert L. Garrison.
