An Alton man was sentenced on Friday to three years in prison and three years' supervised release as a result of his April guily plea to unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.  29 year old Don A. Miller was a convicted felon at the time of the incident and could have gotten up to 10 years in prison.

Police found a loaded semi-automatic pistol during a search of his home in Alton in July of last year, after a live-in girlfriend gave consent for law enforcement to enter.  Miller had already been convicted as a felon and sentenced to more than a year in jail, making him eligible for the enhanced charges.  The case was investigated by Alton Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.
