An Alton man is facing federal drug charges after an indictment was handed down against him in U.S. District Court on Friday. The indictment alleges that 31-year old, Jamar E. Plunkett of the 1800 block of Ervay Avenue sold crack cocaine to an undercover buyer in Middletown on January 3rd. In addition to the the alleged sale, Plunkett was found to have a small amount of cocaine in his car, in his mouth, and in his pocket at the time of his arrest.
Plunkett was on parole from Danville Correctional Center at the time of his arrest. He had been serviving a 5-year term following a 2009 drug conviction in Jersey County. Plunkett remains in the custody of Alton Police and is being held without bond.
