An Alton man has pleaded guilty to a federal gun charge.  24 year old Brian Edelen entered the plea this week in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis after he was arrested during a parole compliance check at his home in April of last year.  Edelen faces up to ten years in jail when he is sentenced later this year.

Authorities say during the search of his home, a gun was found at the bottom of a trash can in Edelen's bedroom.  He was taken into custody and admitted to having the weapon in the residence.  In addition to giving up the weapon and possibly up to 10 years in jail, he could face a fine of up to $250,000 and up to three years of supervised release.
