An Alton man pleaded guilty yesterday to attempted murder in connection with an incident last summer. 20-year-old Brandon McGee of the 1800 block of Smith Street was then sentenced to 18 years in prison for his role in the crime that took place in the city in the 2400 block of Johnson Street.
Authorities say McGee intended to kill Darius Braxton at the time of the shooting on August 30, 2014. At the time of that shooting, McGee was wanted on warrants in connection with two other shooting incidents in the city on August 11 and 12th. Charges in those cases were dropped in exchange for the guilty plea of attempted murder. Under Illinois law, McGee must serve at least 85-percent of his sentence.
