A former candidate for Alton alderman, and the son of a longtime Madison County Board member, remains hospitalized after allegedly being attacked last week.  45 year old Michael Holliday, Junior, was apparently attacked and beaten last Friday resulting in a severe head injury leaving him unable to assist police in providing details of what happened.

Alton Police were called to the report of a man lying in the grass in the area of Washington and Amelia Street, and paramedics were also called.  Holliday was airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital where he is recovering.  Police continue to investigate, but so far have no leads and no suspects and hope as the victim recovers he will be able to offer more details as to what happened.  Holliday, Junior, was attacked one other time several years ago leaving him injured to the point where it affected his ability to walk and he has to use a cane.  Holliday ran unsuccessfully for 5th Ward alderman in 2001, and is the son of Madison County Board member Michael "Doc" Holliday.
