The Alton Police Department is waiting to add a second Police K9 to the force.  While the money was raised in plenty of time to get the new dog to the Riverbend in time for February training, the weather has thrown a monkey wrench in the plans, as it has for many plans this winter.

Alton Police Chief Jake Simmons says the dog should be en-route this week if all goes well.

The department is currently operating with one dog, where it had three at one point.  Alton Police Detective Marcos Pulido led the effort, as becoming a K9 officer has been a dream of his for a long time.
