The Alton Fireworks on the Mississippi is scheduled for later today and the weather could be the best it’s been in years. Central States Fireworks will again produce this year's show and spent most of Wednesday making final preparations. There will be free entertainment at the Liberty Bank Alton Amphitheater starting at 5pm, with the fireworks after 9pm.

Vendors will have food and drink for sale on site, and you can bring chairs or blankets into the park. Just as last year, the Clark Bridge will be open during the display, but cars will not be allowed to stop and motorists are also advised to not stop or park on the upper lanes of Highway 67 on the Missouri side to watch the display.
