The Alton streets will be seeing some infrastructure upgrades, if the City Council gives final approval to a few measures passed last night by the Committee of the Whole.  About 300 feet of water main is planned for Williams Street south of West Fourth Street, and bids will soon be sought for another sidewalk, curb & gutter project in certain neighborhoods.

That will be paid for through a Community Development Block Grant.  Curb & gutter work on the south side of McKinley Boulevard from State Street to Lincoln Avenue will be paid for out of the general fund.  The city is also planning to purchase property at 824-826 E. 6th Street.  An agreement between the city and the Alton Housing Authority to provide supplemental police services at Belle Manor was also given preliminary approval.  These issues and more will be considered at the full council meeting tomorrow night at 7:30.
