The Alton City Council Committee of the Whole breezed through a fairly light agenda at last night's meeting. The committee approved a redevelopment agreement with Dan Mar Enterprises to strip the roof at Riverbend Head Start in the Essic Robinson Building down to the decking, replace the damaged decking, and install a new insulation board and roof system. The low bid projects costs of just over $119,000.
Since the money is coming out of the TIF Fund, the most the city will be on the hook for is $25,000. The committee also approved an ordinance increasing the number of Class 1 liquor licenses, which pertains to events such as banquets and other special events, and gave the go-ahead to the closure of certain streets around Marquette Catholic High School during the construction project to upgrade the facilities involving the gymnasium and commons areas. The full council will meet tomorrow night at 7:30 to consider these and other issues.
