A handful of sewer department equipment purchases and a bid approval for lead paint removal made up the bulk of the Alton City Council Committee of the Whole Meeting Monday night. The city will be purchasing two stainless steel dump bodies and a new Ford 4 wheel drive chassis to be fitted with one of those bodies for use in the sewer department. Those three items will come to a total of a little more than $73,000.
The first major bid to help overhaul the city-owned playhouse in Haskell Park was also approved. Quality Assured Industrial Coatings of Alton has submitted a bid of $22,750 to cover the cost of paint removal at the historic building. The bid also includes an additional option to dispose of any hazardous materials for an additional $3,000. The project will be funded through a special account created by the City last year. These items and others will go in front of the full city council Wednesday night.
