Candidates for public office in the city of Alton will have an opportunity to address the concerns of voters during a public forum tonight at the Holiday Inn. The event, organized by the East End Improvement Association, is co-sponsored by WBGZ, Riverbender.com and The Telegraph.
Each candidate in a contested race will be given an opportunity to speak in the order their names appear on the ballot. Those running unopposed will be introduced, but not speak. Candidates for Alderman in Wards 1, 2, 3 and 7 will be allowed to speak for three minutes. Then the focus will shift to the mayoral race. Each of the candidates will be given five minutes to speak. After individual remarks, questions from the audience will be asked to each of the mayoral candidates, with each having two minutes to respond.
The candidate forum will be held at the Holiday Inn on the Homer Adams Parkway at 7 p.m.
