The plans to bring a multi-use sports complex to Alton High School continue to take shape. The project includes upgrading the current soccer practice field to a game field with a surrounding 8-lane track, the construction of a varsity baseball facility, two multi-purpose fields, a cross-country course, and a new restroom and concession facility Dave McClintock, Director of Buildings and Grounds for the Alton School District, told the Alton Board of Education that plans for the $2.5-million project are 98% complete and that the district was ready to begin accepting bids for the first phase of the project during last week’s board meeting.
McClintock says the weather hasn’t put them behind schedule but says he remains cautious with a few months left before Spring.
