The effects of the Drought of 2012 will harm some fall fun activities more than others. The pumpkin people are optimistic; corn mazes, though, will be a mixed bag.   “You’re not going to go to a farm when it’s rainy,” says Blake Slemmer, a webmaster whose sites deal with all manner of seasonal tourism. “Pumpkins are not going to grow very well when it’s raining a lot. They get funguses, and roots rot, and things like that.”

“Some farms have irrigation, and their mazes aren’t going to look much different than they do any other year,” says corn maze builder Scott Skelly. “Other farms have struggled a little more.”
