A traffic crash between two trucks on Wednesday shut down Illinois Route 3 for several hours on Wednesday, and a resulting fire brought out first responders from around the Riverbend to help fight the blaze. Hartford Police Lieutenant John Grigg says that the driver of the first truck was making a left hand turn when his vehicle was struck in the cab by the second vehicle, which ruptured the fuel tank and sparked a fire just after 8:30AM.
Grigg says that a call for mutual aid was put out immediately.

Crews shut down all lanes of Illinois Route 3 until just before noon and reopend the southbound lanes around 4 p.m. Grigg says that there were no major injuries and that one of the drivers was treated and released at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle will be charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
