An Alton man has been sentenced to more than 12 years in prison following his guilty plea to cocaine sales.  37 year old Arthur G. Widman, II, pleaded guilty last September to two counts of distribution of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. Investigators say he sold the drugs to an undercover police officer at an Alton motel a little over a year ago.

He sold a total of 7 grams of powder cocaine for $500, which led to police getting a search warrant and recovering another 33 grams from his home. Widman was eligible for an enhanced penalty, as the court found he was a career offender. He has been in jail since last January.
