The 15th anniversary of the attacks of 9-11 were remembered in a ceremony in Glen Carbon on Sunday.  Firefighters from Glen Carbon, Edwardsville and other surrounding departments took part in the public memorial service at the Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Edwardsville Fire Chief Rick Welle told the Big Z 15 years after the attacks, we are at a challenging time in our nation's history and he's hopeful the anniversary can help heal and bring people together:

The chief used silence as a theme for part of the event, asking the more than 100 people that attended to take time to reflect on the day with quiet time...reminding us of the silence of no planes in the air in the days after the attack.
