After a delay of nearly a year, Illinois 255 between Seminary and Humbert Roads will open before Halloween.  Sinking dirt under an unopened portion of Illinois 255 has been remedied, and a few final checklist items are being taken care of in anticipation of the ribbon cutting, according to IDOT Engineer Joe Gasaway.

He says the target date is Friday October 26, with a ribbon cutting at Noon, followed by the opening of the roadway:

Gasaway comments

Originally scheduled to open to Humbert Road nearly a year ago, that plan was put on hold in September of 2011 when cracks began forming in the pavement just past the Seminary Road interchange.   Gasaway says the remainder of 255 to Highway 67 near Godfrey Village Hall should be open by Thanksgiving.
