It has been more than six months since sinking dirt under new construction on Illinois 255 delayed the project, and engineers are still trying to figure out what went wrong and how to fix it. Last September cracks began forming in the pavement of the unopened segment near Seminary Road, preventing the stretch to Humbert Road from opening around last Thanksgiving, as originally planned.

IDOT Field Engineer Joe Gasaway says they are still going through the testing process.

Gasaway comments

Traffic on 255 will continue to exit at Seminary until the final leg of the project is done, which is expected to be late in the year.
