A $10 drug deal results in the death of a friend and a dozen years in prison for an Alton man. 25-year-old Glenn P. Lowers admitted in federal court last year to selling 1/10th of a gram of heroin to Joshua S. Shelton on September 3, 2013. Shelton died within hours of the transaction.
Shelton's body was found by his grandfather a few hours after the sale. An autopsy determined Shelton died from injecting heroin. He was 21-years-old at the time of his death. Lowers pleaded guilty to a federal charge of Distribution of Heroin Involving Death, and was sentenced to 144 months in prison on Wednesday.
