A Carbondale native and Iraqi war veteran is throwing his hat in the ring for a shot at filling a Congressional seat. Chris Miller is looking to replace U.S. Representative Jerry Costello in Illinois' 12th District. The Democrat says he will focus on creating jobs in the Metro-East.
He served in the U.S. Army for nine years and has received several awards, including a Purple Heart, a Combat Action Badge, and the Iraq Campaign Medal. He is the second Democrat to step forward and declare his canidacy. Kenneth C. Wiezer of Granite City has also announced he plans to run. Wiezer has challenged Costello in the past in the party primary.
