The Black Men of America's Alton Chapter is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year with a Black Tie & Ball dinner on Saturday, November 12. The event at The Commons at Lewis & Clark Community College will honor many in the community, and serve as the main fundraiser for the group, which gives scholarships to students who meet certain criteria.
Tickets for the event will run $50 each, and availability is getting short. President Michael "Doc" Holliday Sr. says he knows that price may be a little steep for those wanting to support the organization, so there is another option for those who to dance to the music of R&B group Gemini.
The ball & dinner is the last of a number of commemorative and celebrative programs that will be presented in the coming weeks. For more information, or to purchase a ticket to the ball and dinner, call 466-8218 or 444-5407.
