About this event

“The Dating Game” meets “Whose Line is it Anyway?” That’s the best way to describe what Ed Reggi and his Paper Slip Theatre will present on Friday, Feb. 26, at 8:00 p.m. at Jacoby Arts Center.

When We First Met is one-part high energy, two-parts improv games and a dash of love stories told by the audience. The award-winning Paper Slip cast includes Jamie Pitt, Chris Hartman, Cooper Shaw, DeAnna Massie, Darrell Barber and Michele Dumoulin. Under the direction of comedian and the evening’s host, Ed Reggi, will take real life stories about dating and falling in love to a whole new comedy experience. Audience members provide all the stories as the evening unfolds into hilarity.

“Imagine if you can turn back the clock and allow everyone to see the exact moment when you met your love. And then imagine if that looked more like a rock opera or as if it were written by Shakespeare or Woody Allen,” Reggi said. “When We First Met combines the most visceral real-life situations in our lives – falling in love – and invites an audience to become flies on the wall as it all plays out.”

Paper Slip Theatre is the region’s oldest professional improvisational theatre company, making audiences laugh since 2000. Reggi, its founder and artistic director, is an Emmy award winning commercial actor, director, screenwriter and producer. The ensemble Paper Slip Theatre is named after the classic improv game that takes audience suggestions written on tiny slips of paper, which the performers must incorporate throughout the game.

Reggi said he travels to about 50 cities throughout the year and likened Jacoby to having “our very own version of Second City right across the river.”

“When we performed at Jacoby last fall, we were overwhelmed with the joy shared by an outstanding audience that came out to see us. Jacoby attracts some of the best audiences in an incredible space like nothing I have ever experienced. The Historic Alton space turns into the most perfect cabaret venue for comedy improv.”

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or follow the link at http://jacobyartscenter.org/events. Seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis and doors will open at 7:30. A cash bar is available.

Plan to stop in March 26 to hear ‘60s & ‘70s dance tunes and blues with NGK, one of the newest bands in St. Louis. Watch for details to come on our website or like us on Facebook to get the latest news.
