A memorial bicycle ride is planned for Sunday morning in honor of Carol Admire, the Alton woman who died last Saturday after being struck from behind by a vehicle while she was riding along the Great River Road near the Madison-Jersey County line. Two departure times are set for Sunday from Wild Trak Bikes in Alton to the site of the accident.
A so-called Ghost Bike was placed at the location of the accident scene yesterday in Carol’s honor. The bike is painted white and placed at the scene of an accident where a cyclist is killed. However, someone removed the bike from along the guardrail yesterday afternoon, although it was chained and locked. Wild
Trak plans to place another bike at the site today. The ride on Sunday has departure times of 7am and 9am and any cycling level is welcome to do all or some of the ride. Wild Trak is located at 1001 East Broadway in Alton. The accident last Saturday took place in Jersey County between Piasa Harbor and Stanka Lane and remains under investigation. Visitation for Carol Admire is today from 4 until a service at 7pm at Gent Funeral Home in Alton.
