On Saturday, May 23, the National Park Service presents a program about the historic 1780 Revolutionary War battle that took place on the present-day Gateway Arch Grounds, in which more than 2,000 American Indians from the Great Lakes, supported by the British in Canada, travelled down the Mississippi River and attacked the Spanish Village of St. Louis.
From 10 am to 4 pm, living history volunteers in 18th-century attire will perform musket and cannon demonstrations at the Northwest courtyard of the Old Courthouse, and share with visitors the story of St. Louis’ role in the American Revolution.
Attendees will also be able to practice with the re-enactors and learn firsthand the drills taking place during this demonstration.
WHERE: Northeast Courtyard of the Old Courthouse, at the corner of Broadway and Chestnut streets.
TIME: 10 am to 4 pm
COST: Free and open to the public.
