Alton Refrigeration began operation in the very early 1930’s and remained at the original 550 East Broadway location until June 2007 when they relocated to 2996 Homer Adams Parkway in Alton. Providing customers with easy parking and handicap accessibility, the new location also centralizes product display and warehousing in one large 26,000 square foot facility.

The company is still family owned with William F. Crane - President, John Crane - Vice President, and Gary Crane – Secretary/Treasurer. Under their direction AR has evolved their product lines offering a large variety of appliances with quality brands such as Frigidaire Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Amana, Maytag and Samsung.
The company’s expanded electronics section now includes Sony, Samsung, Toshiba and Sharp Aquos lines. Alton Refrigeration & Home Furnishings displays the largest selection of Hi-Definition televisions in the Metro area. Hi-Definition TVs are housed in beautiful cabinetry complete with home theatre sound systems. In the fall of 2009 we dedicated a separate theatre to showcase the latest in electronics innovation.
To complete the shopping experience, the company offers a huge selection of LaZBoy and Broyhill furniture complimented by a Sleep Gallery featuring Simmons and Tempur-pedic and Serta bedding. The display area features an extraordinary selection of entertainment furniture, home office furniture, tables as well as bedroom and dining room furniture.
The interior of the current location features everything from a vintage 1927 Ford delivery truck that harkens back to the early years of the company to modern beautiful kitchen displays that allow you to visualize how your new appliances will look in a kitchen setting.
The Bargain Barn, a full sized barn, is our most recent addition and features closeout and special purchase items. Parking is right outside the door and access couldn’t be easier. Take a minute and experience furniture, appliance and electronics buying like none other.
